There were three ETC's while I was aboard, Chief Selby
was first, then Spry made chief in about '77. After
Selby left in '78 we got ETCS Freeman until I left.

The audio gear stolen was a TEAC reel-reel recorder
from the ship's entertainment room. They hung it over
the stern and the rope broke. After they were done investigating
the theft, the FBI returned it to the ET shop still
full of seawater, and corroded s

The recorder was corroded so bad it was totally useless.
Divers found it underwater. They wrapped it in a plastic
bag and it didn't even dry out. We never did get it
working again!
